Gout
Gout is a comment problem that affects the first metatarsophalangeal joint of the foot, but can also affect other joints in the foot as well as cause heel pain. Gou is more common in male over 40, but does affect females and those under 40. The cause of gout is an inflammatory reaction to uric acid crystals that get deposited into the joint.
